MOMBASA YMCA BRANCH

Bio: YMCA Mombasa branch started in 1953 as a vocational training center. It has since trained over 1000 young people on various technical and vocational skills. With the main mandate of empowering young people Body Mind and Soul, it strives to come up with various empowerment activities which are youth friendly. In the year 2018, it finally launched a youth power space where people in different fields can come to nurture their skills as well as be mentored on various aspects of life. It currently has different clubs among them YMusic, YFashion YFrench and YDancing where young people get to meet, interact, share and nurture their skills. YMCA Mombasa branch is a safe space for youth and it boosts for being such a serene space for any person. With the Motto of the organization i.e. Many Parts – One Body, members and staff continuously come up with a variety of empowerment programs that empower the holistic parts of a young person. It’s currently implementing a program called Because I Count which purposes to counter radicalization and religious extremism through conducting interfaith dialogues as well as training the young groups of people on table banking and entrepreneurship skills.
